Yuki Nigagawa was born in 1960 in Yokohama as an eldest
daughter of a poet, Akiyosi Mizuno.
She made her debut as an actress in 1978
as she was chosen out of 3000 candidates to play the title role
in Kohei Tsuka's Rock Opera "Salome" while she was
still in the high school.
She received The Best New Coming Actress award at Yokohama Film Festival
in 1981 for her performance in "Kurutta Kajitsu".
She acts in films, TV and theatre. Among the films she has done include
"ETERNARL MONUMENT", "APPASSIONATA",
and for TV "Kiryuin Hanako no Shogai" "Koya
no Telebiman" "An-chan".As for theatre work, Yukio
NinagawaĠs "Kanatehon Chushngura" "Nigorie",
"OTHELLO",
Shochiku Production's "Midare-gami", "Onobu
no Yomeiri" "Koiyamabiko",KIM Su Jin's "Kigeki/Teikokukokoro
no Tsuma", etc., she challenges from classic theatre pieces
to novel works.
In 1999,Ninagawa planed and performed the well-received internet live
reading for Christmas "Ushinaisimono Heno Inori".
She is keen on poetry readings, and in 2002 she read William Blake poems
in
"Die sieben lezten Worte unseres Erlsser am KREUZE"
with Kleines Konzert House.
in 2004, she made a short film "BARAMERABA" .
And published "BARAMERABA" DVD &book(tohokuhinsya limd) Ninagawa is also involved in various artistic activities
where she pursues "Strange&Enchanting" as the theme to
create picture books, paintings and to write screenplays.
Ninagawa is a Japan Culture Design Forum member.
